We’ve all heard that phrase before, “Never stop learning”. It is the truth, especially in the legal industry. But what if we re-framed it to “Never stop exploring”?
In order to grow or expand, we must seek knowledge and understanding. We must feel empowered to move out of the fixed mindset and into the growth mindset!
Learning really is an exploration! An exploration of new territory, whether literal, physical or metaphorically. An exploration into our own mind as it discovers new information and processes next steps.
What this tells me is, we must seek activities that drive curiosity, provide satisfaction, create intellectual challenges, and foster creativity and intellect.
Whether it’s taking steps on a trail, reading more, gardening, child-rearing, rowing, sewing, playing the guitar, painting, whatever the task, try to think of it as exploring and see how it impacts critical-thinking and overall knowledge retention.
What’s your favorite way to explore? Do you think the terms, “learning” and “exploring” can both apply to the same experience?
I’d love to hear your thoughts! Please leave a comment on the blog or shoot me an email at kelli@klrparalegal.com
