As I’ve been reading my newest library addition, Lunar Abundance, my fascination with patterns and cycles has grown very strong. By the way, this book is written by Dr. Ezzie Spencer, who started out as a lawyer and then pursued her PhD in emotional well-being after trauma. So far, the discussions opening this book have really intrigued me and already created a new pathway of thinking to explore.
Do you have patterns established that lead to Monday’s being your least favorite day of the week? I sure did, and I’ve also come to realize my existing pattern of weekly moments developed through practice and intention. So, if I can alter my practice and intention to produce a new pattern, I feel I can learn to love Mondays just as much as I love Saturdays.
I believe the meaning and practice of meditation is personally defined. What works for one mind/body/spirit may not work for another. For many years I’ve found time in nature to be highly meditative, however getting out into the wild is not always an option. I know I need to calm my mind and allow it time to rest in order to produce new patterns or alter existing ones. While sleeping, my mind is not at rest, so I don’t think that counts as “rest” time. So how do I slow it?
How do I pause the constant stream of to-dos, what-ifs and whys?
My usual go-to’s are: yoga, journaling and reading — all great things. But it’s hard to balance it all into a work day. I’d love to make all three of these part of my daily
practice so that I’m working in preventative mode not triage.

What does it look like for you?
How often do you practice?
Do you feel you practice in preventative, maintenance, or triage mode?
