Asking for help is not a weakness. Quite the opposite actually. Delegation is a skill and a powerful tool which also enables collaboration. Have you ever heard of that saying, “teamwork makes the dream work”? Well, it’s true! Let go of control and understand others are capable and willing to help. Setting aside egos and pride can be challenging, but the benefits far outweigh the costs.
Taking on too much takes a toll on our wellness. Be sure to understand your capabilities and limitations so you can avoid taking on tasks better suited for other’s strengths or talents.
Another way to look at it is cost-time analysis. Take my sprinkler and drip systems as an example — it would take me at least 2 hours, including trip(s) to Home Depot, to assess the situation, determine the proper replacement parts and pieces, identify correct replacement items and then complete the repairs. On the other hand, I can ask the sprinkler expert (local small business) to come take a look and perform repairs for under $100 dollars. What makes more sense here?
