Boundary Scripts for the Holidays

Wellness Wednesday: Protect your energy, protect your peace.

The holidays can stretch us, emotionally and energetically.

Between gatherings, obligations, family dynamics, and the pressure to make everything feel “just right,” it’s easy to override our own needs in the name of keeping the peace.

Boundaries aren’t about pushing people away. They’re about caring for yourself with intention.

Why Boundaries at the Holidays are Important

Clear, kind boundaries can help you stay present without overextending. And they don’t require long explanations or apologies. Sometimes, a simple sentence is enough. Remember, “no” is a complete sentence.

Here are a few gentle boundary scripts you can lean on this season:

  • “I’m keeping things lighter this year.”
  • “I can stay for a bit, then I’ll head out.”
  • “That doesn’t work for me.”
  • “I’ll respond when I’m back.”

These statements create clarity while honoring your energy. They allow you to participate in ways that feel sustainable rather than draining.

Reflection for the week:
Where might one small boundary create more ease during the holidays?

Protecting your energy supports everything else, especially this season.
